Cultural and Social Anthropology

The Master's program in Cultural and Social Anthropology at New Bulgarian University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the diversity of human societies and cultures. This research-oriented program covers various areas of anthropology, including economic, political, and symbolic aspects. Students will engage in comparative studies of cultures, particularly focusing on Europe, the Black Sea basin, and the Balkans. The curriculum includes courses such as Anthropology of Europe and Eurasia, Construction of Cultural and National Identity, and Methodology of Anthropological Research. Practical training is emphasized through fieldwork and research projects, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. Graduates will be equipped with the skills necessary for careers in higher education, NGOs, and public administration, and will have the opportunity to pursue further studies in doctoral programs.
