Bachelor of Social Work

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Online program at the University of Calgary is designed for students seeking a flexible and comprehensive education in social work. This entirely online program allows students to engage with diverse communities while acquiring essential skills for anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice. The curriculum includes core courses covering topics such as mental health, Indigenous histories, and social justice advocacy, alongside experiential learning through a 400-hour practicum. Students will attend live online classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as Saturday mornings, while also completing independent learning. The program is structured to be completed in approximately 24 months, with a full-time commitment of 18-24 hours per week. This degree prepares graduates for a variety of careers in the helping professions, emphasizing the importance of social justice and community engagement.
